The Choctaw Area Council is a relatively small council compared to some, but our impact on the youth around us is no less than a larger council. As a member of the Boy Scouts of America, our vision statement is "to prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and the Scout Law". The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is "to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law".

The Scout Oath is...
On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

The Scout Law is...
A Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent.

We are here in Meridian, Mississippi to reach out to the youth of East Mississippi and West Alabama. Although our Council Service Center and Scout Shop is in Meridian, we also serve six other counties surrounding us. These counties are, Lauderdale, Clarke, Newton, Neshoba and Kemper Counties in East Mississippi - and Choctaw County in West Alabama. Each year, we serve over 3000 youth in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venutring, Exploring and Learning for Life. We are supported by over 60 Chartered Partners that provide the Scouting experience for the youth in our communities. Our council is funded each year by the Friends of Scouting fundraising program, our yearly Popcorn Sales and numerous special events throughout each year. Please browse through our website to find out more about our council, and feel free to contact any of our helpful staff members if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
