We have to CANCEL the
Third Annual Ten Commandments Walk
Due to the numerous first weekend of the month conflicts with area churches
and numerous church commitments on the Gulf Coast to assist with
Hurricane Katrina Recovery

The purpose of this event is to hold before the Scouts the importance of doing their duty to God, which is part of both the Boy Scout and the Girl Scout Oath. It is also an opportunity to promote the Religious Emblems Programs that both Scouting Organizations have with over 90 religious faiths. Finally, it is also an opportunity to help teach religious tolerance (to respect the rights and beliefs of others) while at the same time to show the commonality of all the these great religions participating in the walk. |

The walk is open to all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Explorers, Girl Scouts, other youth groups, their siblings, friends and parents. This event is open to all area children. The event will be held in Downtown Meridian The cost is $2.00 per scout if you want the patch and handouts. The purpose of this event is: 1. to promote the Religious Emblems Program 2. to show case scouting to the community 3. to have an event that celebrates "Duty to God" 4. to show the commonality of all the great religions of the world 5. it meets several Cub Scouting and Boy Scout advancement requirements 6. TO HAVE FUN!!! |

On Saturday, February 28, 2004 the Boy Scouts of America in partnership with the Girl Scouts USA and ten Meridian faith communities conducted its First Annual Ten Commandments Walk.
